A home unmistakably yours.

Custom homes, ADUs, remodels and outbuildings — built the way the finest work always has been: stone, millwork, lighting, hardware and proportion planned as one composition, not assembled piece by piece.

What we build

Full-service, ground-up to finish-out. If it's construction, it's on the table.

Custom homes

Ground-up builds designed and detailed around how you actually live — not a spec-home floor plan.

ADUs

Accessory dwelling units built to the same standard as the main house — rental income or space for family.

Remodels & additions

Kitchens, whole-home remodels and additions, planned around your budget from the first estimate.

Decks & outdoor living

Decks, patios and outdoor spaces built to hold up and built to be used.

Barns, shops & outbuildings

Full timber-frame barns and shops, built for storage, entertaining, or both.

Something else?

"We can do anything. Nothing's gonna kick our ass." If we don't know how, we'll find who does.

About Mantis Customs

Greg Hillis started in construction in 1990 and spent the next three and a half decades inside every trade a custom home touches — framing, tile, paint, concrete, roofing. Most builders learn, somewhere along the way, to manage a job. Greg learned to see stone, millwork, lighting, hardware and proportion as a single composition, planned together the way the finest work always is.

Ten years leading projects for one of Utah's most established custom builders sharpened that eye further — and set the standard Mantis Customs holds on every project, regardless of scope or budget.

Every trade on a Mantis job works from that same standard — because Greg has done the work himself, and knows exactly what it takes to get it right.

"A home should be impossible to mistake for anyone else's work. That's the standard, on every project." Greg Hillis · Owner, Mantis Customs

The Mantis standard.

Every project is held to the same standard, regardless of scope.

Details compound

Stone, millwork, lighting, hardware and proportion are planned as one composition — not chosen piece by piece.

Site intelligence

Every lot has an opinion — on views, access, grading, drainage, snow and privacy. The design starts by reading the site, not overriding it.

Budget discipline

A real number, set before the first day of construction, leaves room to invest with intention instead of reacting under pressure later.

Builder-led attention

Greg is on every job himself. Personal oversight isn't a service tier at Mantis Customs — it's the only way the work gets done.

From frame to finish

A curved wall isn't a detail most builders would take on. Here's one, start to finish.

Curved wall framing under construction, studs bent to shape
Stage 1Framed by hand

Every stud on the curve bent and set individually — no shortcuts, no pre-fab kit for this shape.

Curved second-story framing at sunset with lumber staged on site
Stage 2Structure takes shape

Second story framed out and sheathed, the curve holding true from top to bottom.
